Recently a very popular porn star was "outed." Not "outed" in the way we think about when someone declares at the Thanksgiving dinner table they are gay. The declaration and "outing" was that the porn actor was HIV positive.
Really? Did you really just gasp?
Some of you will want to know who this person is. Some of you might be asking, "who outed this person?" And some of you might think to yourself that unfortunately this young man has HIV, but he can live a very long and healthy life with HIV. While we will not pass judgment towards the slime that felt it necessary to "out" this actor and pass along confidential medical information, we do take note of what happened.
While some in this business use up guys and toss them out when they are no longer wanted, Rhys Carter Studios tries to not live by that low standard. Imagine running and business and you found out that one of the people you worked with and cared about became ill due to your lack of safety. That's like owning and trucking company and purposely taking the seat belts out of the vehicles because nobody really cares. "I hate driving with seat belts! It doesn't feel right and I can't drive as well. They restrict me."
So let's get into the porn industry. Do you think the actors use condoms as much off-screen as they do on-screen? Ask that question to some actors and watch their faces turn red from the embarrassment of admitting they don't use condoms away from the cameras. Sad, but true.
Getting back to the actor that has just realized he is HIV positive. Will he work in the industry? Will other actors say, "you have HIV, there is no way I will fuck you!" Is there a Scarlet letter for this actor? There is no saying.
Condoms are used to prevent HIV. Yes, they prevent other STD's. Yes, they can help prevent infections of the urethra. But in all honesty, the condoms are solely to prevent HIV and promote a healthy lifestyle.
